M4 delays after multi-vehicle crash

Traffic on the M4 was moving slowly in both directions this morning due to a multi-vehicle road collision near junction 16.

The accident happened about 9.30am between the A419 Swindon East Junction and the A3102 Swindon West Junction and caused problems for more than an hour.

The accident didn't happen at 0930 as reported by you, it happened at 0430 earlier this morning.
Think you need to do your research a bit better.

And it happened between Swindon Junction 16 and Chippenham Junction 17.

Involving a few cars and an articulated lorry

Very poor reporting with wrong facts

If your both talking about the same accident then you both need to get your facts right as it happened about 2.45am. I know this as I was involved / a key witness.

wholly inacurate, the rta happened around 03:00 , i was stuck in the traffic east bound ,when i passed the scene there was one car on the westbound side and the articulated truck was across the eastbound side "lane one" with the cab in the trees.whatever the reporting facts,it was a horrific sight,which i found very upsetting.

Regardless of my slight discrepancy in the timings, I am right about the location and the fact it happened in a totally different location than that reported, I am also correct in saying it involved a few cars and an articulated lorry and I've since found out only one person was taken to hospital and in sure you will join me in wishing that person a speedy recovery

@stephanie52 and the pie, I'm sorry you had to witness the accident it must have been awful, I'm a taxi despatcher in Swindon and one of my taxi's was at the front of the que and sat and watched everything too, he is still shaken up as Im sure you both are. Where were you then stephanie as you could have been parked right next to my taxi?

Munkeynutz - we pulled over on the hard shoulder to change a tyre. And the first car came flying up the grass verge within meters beside us. Nearly hitting us. The it smashed down on the embankment and span into the middle of the road. Then another car came down the outside lane and hit debris and span out onto the grass verge. Within moments the lorry came speeding down and ploughed into the car in the middle of the road and went off course to the other side of the m4. And then we managed to flag down a lorry and he phoned the police and we flagged down all the veichles to a Holt.

Well Stephanie,all i have to say is that someone up above was looking after you this morning,you were so lucky that no one hit you at all, thank goodness nobody was killed, to be honest when i passed the scene i thought surely that there had been a fatality .

Dis was a reli bad accident an was shocking I was stuck behind it I'm glade no 1 got hurt an lucky everybody was stopped b4 it got worse an after they cleared the lane i was ready 2 leave my battery went flat thanks a lot 2 near by police offices help me restart an made me get on my way an I was bit unhappy when I had 2 push my car alone frm fast lane 2 hard shoulder an no1 helped :( an hope ppl who where in void where safe

My prayer where with all ppl where in void i hope they are all right an who got hurt badly may he/her get better an hope it wasn't life treating may god be with them. An my battery wasn't no biggy just thanking officers for the help.

I did not know there was an accident regardless of the various times it is alleged to have occurred. I am none the wiser after deciphering the gibberish commented thus far.
The WT report is by far the best to date despite its brevity.

Im glad no one was killed .. but Blazer murdered the English language
