The parents of 11-year-old Jade Randall have paid tribute to their “cheeky, giggly” daughter, who died last week.

Jade, who was a pupil at St Nicholas School, Chippenham, had battled several genetic disorders throughout her life.

She died on Friday, June 15, at Naomi House hospice, in Hampshire.

Jade had contracted Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) and was transferred to the hospice from Royal United Hospital, Bath.

Her devastated parents, Nikki and Lee Brown, of Pen Hill Road, Calne, paid tribute to their inspirational daughter.

Mrs Brown, 30, said: “Jade lived life to the full, she experienced so much. She loved being at St Nicholas, she was very, very sociable and loved just being around people.

“She was a very cheeky character with a real get-stuck-in attitude – she knew what she did and didn’t want to do.

“Jade had a real spirit in her, she was a fighter. She pulled through several times when the doctors didn’t think she would.”

Jade developed a catalogue of medical problems after she stopped growing inside the womb at just 28 weeks. She was deaf and had problems with her sight and spent a lot of time going in and out of hospital.

But that didn’t stop her enjoying some extraordinary experiences.

Dad Lee, an aircraft engineer in the RAF, based at Brize Norton, arranged for her to be strapped into a Hercules during take-off.

Mrs Brown added: “Our border collie Jake loved her, too. He will miss sitting next to her play area and watching her.

“We will always have some special memories of her. I will remember her infectious giggling. And that she used to like to be as awkward as possible when I was getting her dressed and she would find it hilariously funny.”

But the most prominent memory of all will be of her walking down the aisle, using her walking frame, at the couple’s wedding at Stanton Manor in January this year.

Mr Brown, 39, said: “I am very proud to have had her as a daughter and I feel very lucky we had her around for so long.”

Mr and Mrs Brown thanked the friends and family who have rallied round to support them over the past week since Jade’s death.

Her funeral is at Semington Crematorium on Monday at 12.15pm. Friends and family are welcome to attend and are asked to wear bright clothing. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to Naomi House.

The family appeared in the Gazette in 2004 and were overwhelmed by the public support they received. Several volunteers offered to help decorate their new home, while the Lions Club donated nearly £700 for a new bed for Jade.
