Matthew Rose on the run with Christine Hamilton
A teacher in Chippenham has called on support from local celebrity Christine Hamilton prior to his 69-mile charity run to ensure that he doesn’t ‘hit a wall’ – Hadrian’s Wall that is.
Abbeyfield School maths teacher Matthew Rose, 43, is preparing to run the 69 miles from Carlisle to New-castle in less than 24 hours for the school charities Macmillan Cancer Support and the Meningitis Trust next week.
Mr Rose, from Hullav-ington, the same village as his supporter Christine Hamilton, said: “The run is well beyond anything you can train for.
“I have been running 130 miles a month to prepare, and my aim is to complete it in less than 24 hours.
“The benefit of doing something like this is that you only have to put up with it for one day.”
The challenge will see Mr Rose run along Hadrian’s Wall, up steep hills, across fields and footpaths as well as in darkness as the hours draw in.
Mr Rose is keen to further his personal challenge after raising £4,500 last year for Wiltshire Air Ambulance by running 90 miles in three days in memory of former pupils Frankie Bowyer and Jamie Walker who died along with George Forester in a car crash in December 2010.
