Corsham Trooper James Campbell has joined in the Diamond Jubilee celebrations with an impromptu tea party amidst his busy deployment in Afghanistan.

Tpr Campbell, 23, said: "If I was back in England I would have gone to London to watch the celebrations with my friends. It was a really good excuse to do something here.

"As one of the guys had been sent flags and bunting we thought it would be fun to put it up in the Mastiff and have a tea party.

"At home we’d be toasting the Queen with something stronger, but as Fortnums and Masons sent us out some quality tea and biscuits we celebrated with a nice brew."

Trooper Campbell joined The King’s Royal Hussars in 2007 and provides cover from the top of his vehicle whilst his team is on patrol.

He is part of the Commanding Officer’s force protection team based in Lashkar Gah.

The King’s Royal Hussars are working as an infantry unit within Helmand province, which has transitioned to Afghan security control.

They conduct joint patrols with the Afghan forces, supporting them on operations, reducing the threat from insurgents in the area.
