Town to be focus of photo competition
8:00pm Wednesday 16th May 2012 in News
The Chippenham Civic Society is calling all budding photographers to take part in the launch of their new photo competition.
The free competition is open to all non professional photographers residing, working or in full-time education in the Chippenham area.
The purpose is to promote the town with the theme ‘Chippenham is a great place to live and here are the views to show why’.
The winners will be decided by a panel of three judges – professional artist and society member Jenni-fer Rudd, architect Jack Konynenburg and museum and heritage centre curator Melissa Barnett.
Winners and runners-up will receive their prizes at a future meeting of the society, and winning entries will be published in the society’s journal the Butter-cross Bulletin, on www. chippenhamcivicsociety.co.uk and a full display will be featured in the museum.
Entries must be submitted with forms available on the website or at the museum by July 31.
There will be two categories, under 18s and over 18s; £25 will go to a winner in each age group and two runners up from each group will win £10 each.

But Chippenham isn't a great place to live. I think there is a lot of optimism in this.
Extracting beauty where none exists.
Making the mundane look exciting.
If you can make Chippenham look like a great place to live even if you don't believe it, then you're doing a good job. If you can't find something to photograph to make it look good, then you're not deserving of winning. If it was easy, there would be no reward.
