Revamp to shut Pewsey Heritage Centre

Pewsey's award winning Heritage Centre will be closed until Easter 2013 and its huge collection of artefacts put in store to enable refurbishment of the building to take place.

Michael Asbury, curator at the centre in the High Street, told its annual meeting that trustees had decided to shut it for the refurbishment – including a new roof, re-wiring and replacing the front door.

Redcliffe Homes, who will be developing homes on the adjacent Whatley’s site, have agreed to pay for the refurbishment of the heritage centre in an old foundry building where visitors can see some of the heavy engineering machinery still in place.

A grand re-opening is planned for next Easter.
