Forum to be started at Devizes School for parents

Devizes School has established a new forum where parents can bring their concerns to the notice of staff at regular intervals.

The Parent Forum will meet three times each academic year and involve about 20 parents, giving them the chance to discuss teaching and learning, to comment on aspects of school life and to let the school hear what the parents think of them and the work they do.

Headteacher Malcolm Irons said: “The purpose of the group will be to develop closer links with parents and listen to parental views in order to support further developments at the school.

“Members of the school leadership team will be part of the forum group and other key staff can be invited as required.”

The first meeting of the forum takes place on May 21 from 4.30pm until 6pm at the school.

The subjects for discussion at the meeting will be home learning, changes to reporting progress information to parents, providing information about what students are learning and how parents can support this and improving communication between school and parents.
