Fourteen Beaver Scouts from Derry Hill raised £300 for the Butale Project, a local charity organised by Miriam Sawyer.

The boys and girls aged six to eight also completed their International Partnership Badge and a Hikes Away Badge with a sponsored walk to Cherhill monument and White Horse to raise money for the cause.

The Beavers also learnt about the work of the charity and the effect the money raised will have on primary school aged Ugandan children. The money raised would feed the whole school for three months, which is vital to ensure the children grow up healthy and have three hot meals a day.

The Beavers really enjoyed the walk and Ben Carter said it was ‘one of the best walks he has done’. All the Beavers were presented with their badges at the top of the hill.
