Calne police have launched a crackdown on anti-social behaviour in the town centre.
After numerous reports of youths causing problems for businesses and shoppers over the past couple of weeks, police and the town’s CCTV team are stepping up their patrols.
Youngsters have been hanging around in large groups around the Phelps Parade area and outside Sainsbury’s, being "obstructive" and playing football in the pedestrianised streets.
PC Hans Monahan, of Calne Police, said: "Large groups have been gathering between 6pm and 10pm and causing a nuisance to shopkeepers and irritating residents.
"They have been obstructive to shoppers and have been doing things like playing football in Phelps Parade.
"We are now working with the CCTV team to establish the identity of those involved in these incidents of antisocial behaviour.
"We will then speak to their parents to make them aware of the situation. Hopefully then the problems can be dealt with in the home."
PC Monahan added that, should the problems not be solved, there are certain actions they can take. For example they can use section 27 of the Violent Crimes Act to barr people from the town centre for specific periods of time.
He added: "It is currently one of our police priorities and we will be focussing our patrols on these areas.
"It is also another opportunity to emphasise our partnership with the CCTV team. It is a huge benefit to have their feedback about what is happening in the town centre."
If you see any anti-social behaviour in the town centre, call Wiltshire Police on 101.

Having been in and around Calne all my life i can honestly i have never known Calne to be as bad as what it is now.The groups of kids what hang around the street which in itself is not a crime but can worry residents.Walking through Calne late at night after a night out i came across a group of girls around 14 years old sat chatting in the middle of the road. They were doing no harm and were nice girls. The time was 130am ,Just where do there parents think they are? Most children in Calne seem to be dragged up and its such a shame because calne used to very nice.Dont blame the kids for all of it,blame the parents who could not give a fig where thier kids are or what thier doing just as long as thier out of there way.
