Carers can take a break in Chippenham

Carers in Wiltshire will have the chance to be taken care of themselves at an event in Chippenham on Saturday.

Equilibrium Natural Health Centre at Forest Gate will be offering reflexology, Indian head massage, foot care and spine checks to carers in exchange for donations to the Carers Association.

Owner Helen Grundy said it was a chance for the holistic centre to give something back.

“We’ve already held this event once before and it was very popular,” she said.

“It’s so lovely to hear positive feedback from people who really appreciate it. People came back to us to say how glad they are that we’re doing something like this.

“This is just a little something for people who don’t often have any time to themselves, or don’t give themselves permission to take some time off.”

Carer Support Wiltshire offers support, information, advice and time out opportunities to people looking after family members and friends across Wiltshire.

Volunteer coordinator Carrie Wierszycki said: “We are so grateful to Helen and her team at Equilibrium for offering this wonderful opportunity to carers.

“It is so essential for them to have a bit of time to themselves in order to look after their own health and wellbeing.”

Mrs Grundy said: “Carers devote so much of their time to looking after loved ones that often their own needs get put to one side.

“Being a carer can’t be easy for anyone, whether young or old, but here at Equilibrium we want to help give some care back.”

At the last event, 25 people of all ages attended for treatments and Mrs Grundy said she hopes even more feel welcome this time.

“We hope to raise more funds for the charity and give carers the opportunity to enjoy some free treatments and have a bit of respite time,” she said.
