Probe after blaze rips through garages

1:00pm Friday 27th January 2012

FIRE crews from Devizes and Calne fought a blaze in two adjoining garages at a house in Little Horton, near Devizes, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The two wooden garages and an adjoining shed were well alight when firefighters arrived at about 3am, having been alerted by a neighbour.

Two cars and other items in the garage, including a gas barbecue, were badly damaged. But the crews managed to stop the flames spreading to the thatched cottage itself.

Pip Flowers, commander of Devizes fire station, said: “The cause would seem to be electrical, although the investigation is still going on.”
