Rape case is sent to court

A Calne man charged with rape is to face a crown court hearing next month.
Michael John Burgess, 26, of no fixed address, was charged after an incident last Wednesday evening at an address in Calne.
He was remanded in custody and appeared at North West Wiltshire Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Due to the serious nature of the charge, the case will be heard at Swindon Crown Court on February 10, when Burgess is expected to enter a plea. He has been remanded in custody until that date.
