POLICE are urging homeowners to be vigilant after £200 was stolen from a house in Hullavington during a distraction burglary.
A man knocked at the door at the home of a 62-year-old woman in Newtown at about 1.15pm on Thursday, September 14.
The man produced a card, which suggested he was working for the council.
He told the woman he needed to put a fence up at the bottom of her garden.
He went into the garden, with the homeowner, for between five and ten minutes.
He later left the side entrance of the house.
On returning to the house, the woman discovered that £200 missing from her front room.
The man is described as white, about six-foot tall, between 30 and 40 years, with a foreign accent.
He was wearing a dark top, light trousers, had short hair and was clean shaven.
