Wiltshire police are appealing for help from the public to locate a prisoner who has failed to return to Erlestoke Prison near Devizes after being granted day release.
Twenty-one-year-old Lee John Turner, who is currently serving a four-year sentence for robbery, was given a day release from the prison to travel to Swindon last Tuesday, September 13, but did not return.
Enquiries have been continuing to try and locate Turner, including circulation of photo and details to other agencies and partner forces, circulation as wanted on the Police National Computer and intelligence checks.
Detective Constable Kevin Hegg said: “It is believed that Mr Turner may still be in the Swindon area and enquiries are on-going to try and establish his whereabouts.
“Whilst he doesn’t pose an immeditate threat to the public, it is important we locate him quickly and would ask members of the public who may have seen Mr Turner to contact the police immediately.
“He has a very distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck detailing the date ‘1969’ which would make him stand out.
“People can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously if they wish.”
