Pewsey's Olympic skeleton bob silver medallist Shelley Rudman comes to Devizes today to encourage local women to take up sport.
She is returning to the town, where she worked as a classroom manager at Devizes School between 2004 and 2006, to launch Wiltshire Council’s first event dedicated to getting more women into sport – Women of Wiltshire Fit.
Ms Rudman, the current European champion and number two in the world, won the silver medal in the skeleton bob event at the winter Olympics in 2006.
She said: “As someone who tried their hand at an unusual sport and got immense enjoyment from it, I would urge others to use this event to try and have a go at something themselves. I’m thrilled to be back in Wiltshire.”
