Two groups of soldiers re-enacting wars that were 300 years apart shared the same battlefield on Sunday at Littlecote House.

The Sealed Knot group re-enacted scenes from the English Civil War in 1643 and the Screaming Eagles Living History group represented the US 101st Airborne parachute regiment in 1943 at the Littlecote at War weekend.

Two standard bearers from the Screaming Eagles later went to the Kennet Valley at War Trust museum in Littlecote House to unveil a bronze plaque of the name of US soldier Lester Birky who in 1944 carved his name on a tree in nearby Hampstead Park.

The Screaming Eagles hold a march every Spring from Aldbourne, where many of its members were based, to Littlecote House which housed the officers.
