Teenagers in Marlborough will be encouraged to create graffiti at the town hall on Sunday to let them show off not only their artistic talents but their dancing abilities as well.

It’s being organised by the We Love Marlborough group which aims to encourage and sponsor arts and other cultural events in the town.

On Sunday teenagers will be learning a street dance, creating graffiti and making a film of their experience during what is being called Street Dance Marlborough aimed at the 13–18 age group and running from 11am–6pm with free admission.

One of the organisers Louisa Davison said: “Marlborough town hall is being taken over by teenagers from St John’s School, Marlborough College, Pewsey schools and further afield to learn the moves inspired by TV show Britain’s Got Talent winners, Diversity, and the film Street Dance UK.

“Dancer Merville Jones will be teaching the routine, TV director Peter Anderson will be leading the filming and graffiti artist Ben Tobin will be letting loose the young people with spray cans.”

The day, which includes lunch, tea and transport into Marlborough for teenagers who live in the villages, will be free thanks to a grant from the Grass Roots Fund, managed by the Wiltshire and Swindon Community Foundation and support from Kennet Valley Arts Trust. Swindon Dance is providing the workshop leaders.

Teenagers can book a place on www.marlboroughstories.co.uk or by ringing (01672) 811515.
