A New Year production at The Wharf is short of a leading actor.
The play is John Godber’s comedy Teechers, set in a comprehensive school.
With the use of very simple multi-role playing, three fifth formers exuberantly sketch the young, new drama teacher’s progress through two terms of reluctant classes, cynical colleagues and obstructive caretakers until he departs, disillusioned, for the safer waters of a private school. But director David Thompson is short of a leading male actor and rehearsals begin late October.
He is holding an open auditon next Friday at The Wharf at 7.30pm.
The ideal actor will have a playing age of between 20 and 30 and be confident with multi-role playing.
Mr Thompson said recent Wharf productions have had quite large casts which have consumed the acting membership, which is why he is a man short.
Interested actors should contact him on (01793) 638797 or dvdtmsn@ntlworld.com.
