Game fair at Bowood just keeps on growing

Wiltshire Game & Country Fair is back and bigger than ever next weekend, August 7 and 8.

The fair, now in its fourth year, takes place in Bowood and celebrates all the county has to offer in countryside pursuits.

A falconry village promises to be an amazing spectacle. The show also features mounted games, scurry racing, gun dog antics and the hugely popular Learn How To... attractions.

These offer free 20 minute tutorials on angling, falconry and gun dog handling and are supervised by Living Heritage’s experts.

An event spokesman said food fans will be spoiled for choice from the local produce on offer.

He added: “Top chef from Game-to-eat – Tony Robertson – will be showing us how to whip up the perfect pigeon pie or rabbit roulade as part of the healthy eating campaign which aims to get more wild food into our kitchens.

“He is supported by celebrity chef and the UK's leading food archaeologist Alan Coxon, who will be delving back in time to reveal some intriguing recipes.”

The main arena will play host to all things equestrian and working dog demonstrations, gun dog handling and lurcher racing will feature in the Dog Zone.

Some of Britain’s best arts and crafts specialists, with nationally selected artists, designers and craftsmen will be putting on demonstrations and exhibitions.
