APRIL 15: CHART-TOPPING boy band Blue are to headline at Wiltshire Festival's Party in the Park when it returns this summer.

Last week it was announced that the festival will be back with a vengeance after its cancellation in 2003.

And now festival promoter Neil Cooper has secured the acts he believes will make it a sell-out.

He said: "We promised that the Wiltshire Festival would be back with a vengeance and believe that our line-up of artists will prove it on the day.

"This will be one of the few opportunities to see the boys appear live this year."

Recent rumours over the break-up of Blue have been officially denied by the band and they are set to perform a one-hour live show at the Party in the Park on Saturday, August 28.

They have already performed to capacity crowds in many major arenas nationwide.

With two number one albums, three number one singles, two Brit Awards and five million albums sold worldwide, Blue are now one of the biggest pop acts in the country.

They will sing many of their hit songs, including All Rise, One Love, Guilty, Fly By and their new single Breathe Easy.

Also appearing will be Jamelia, one of the UK's hottest new female performers, whose hit singles Superstar and Thankyou have propelled her to stardom.

The single Thankyou entered the charts at number two and her debut album of the same name has reached number four.

And before Lydiard Park plays host to the Party in the Park on the Saturday evening, it will stage the Classical Picnic and Proms event on Friday, August 27.

The park will fill with people and their picnics relaxing to the sounds of the Proms and the sights of the firework spectacular. The concert will be performed by the English National Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Jae Alexander.

Guest soprano will be Sarah Ryan, who is currently starring in the London musical Jerry Springer The Opera.

Guest tenor will be Ted Jackson, the opera-singing builder and runner-up of Channel Four's Operatunity programme.

More acts will be announced soon, but in the meantime fans are urged to snap up tickets with the festival's early bird discount.

Until May 31, Party in the Park tickets can be bought for £24 or £14 for under-10s. Under threes go free.

There will be a £2 booking fee per ticket.

Tickets are on sale from 9am tomorrow at the Evening Advertiser in Victoria Road, Old Town; the Link Centre, The Oasis and the tourist information centre in Regent Street.

Tickets are also available from the tourist information centres in Chippenham, Trowbridge and Cirencester.
