STEVE White hailed the character shown by his players as they overturned a 3-0 interval deficit to eventually lift the Wiltshire Premier Shield.

It was Chalky's first match in charge of a side against his old club on his old stomping ground and it ended in triumph.

He said: "It was great character by our boys and it will stand them in good stead from now until the end of the season.

"I'm obviously very, very pleased."

Town reserve team boss Alan Reeves felt his young players had done the club proud despite suffering defeat.

The home side ended the night with just nine players after Sam Morris and Chris Allen suffered injuries, with no Town substitutes on the bench to replace them.

Reeves said: "They acquitted themselves ever so well in the first half, got three good goals and were flying.

"We tired in the second half, as we thought would be the case, but the lads worked their socks off and did the club proud."

As for the lack of substitutes, Reeves made it clear that it wasn't out of disrespect to Chippenham.

He said: "I said to Chalky that I hoped he didn't think we were taking the mickey.

"We had to get a 15-young lad in from school in. We just didn't have the numbers.

"The manager didn't want squad players involved.

"All the best to Chippenham and I hope they go on and win their league.

"Both teams have got bigger fish to fry than this competition."
