THE Malmesbury Hospital League of Friends has thanked the Beaufort Hunt after more than £800 was raised at an annual fundraiser last week.
The League was invited to attend Saturday's charity meet at Hundred Acre Farm in Sopworth to collect donations and were delighted by the response. The farm is owned by Olive and Leslie Milsom.
Chairman of the League Robin Clark said: "The hunt regularly raises funds for various charities on such days and we're extremely grateful to the joint master and members of the Beaufort for their generosity."
The hospital's Abbey Ward closed on Friday but Mr Clark is as determined as ever to continue providing support to those that need it.
He said: "We may be losing our hospital buildings but we will still need to support hospital patients who need treatment. There are many ways in which we will be continuing this support."
Spokesman for the Beaufort Hunt Jo Aldridge said: "We're very pleased to have helped. It only took about 30 minutes to raise £800.
"Three weeks ago we gave Tetbury Hospital £1,000. This time we decided we'd like to give to Malmesbury Hospital which is in our area as well."
