The police investigation into the whereabouts of Donavan Van Lill, aged 29, a South African man living in Chippenham has intensified.

Mr Van Lill, a Corsham rugby player, was last seen during the early hours of Wednesday, March 3 at his home address and was due to begin work at the Olympiad, Chippenham at 2pm that afternoon. He is a personal trainer and he had a number of pre-booked appointments with clients which he did not turn up for.

The last public sighting of Donavan was at approximately 9:30pm on March 2 when he was leaving the Olympiad, Chippenham.

He is described as white, he has a stocky build, short dark hair and has a large oriental dragon tattoo on his abdomen. It is believed that he may be wearing or have in his possession a distinctive dark coloured duffle coat, a fleece and white Adidas trainers. Police have now issued pictures of similar clothing.

Detective Inspector Lindsey Winter said: ‘Our investigation has been ongoing over the weekend and we have been looking into information supplied by members of the public following the media appeals.

"We have released photos of a distinctive duffle coat and fleece similar to those owned by Donavan which we believe he may have with him. I would urge Donavan or anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact us."

She said people in Chippenham may notice an increased police presence as officers conduct their enquiries. Searches of areas that Donavan is known to frequent will be carried out over the coming days which is normal procedure in a missing person investigation.
