Pewsey Vale fought their way through to the final of the Corsham Print Senior Cup with a 1-0 win at Wroughton.

Vale assistant boss Lewis Taylor said: “The whole club is buzzing, it’s the first final that a Pewsey side has reached for quite a few years and everyone is delighted.

“It was not the greatest semi final but the lads dug in well worked hard and got their reward.”

After a goal less first half where not too many clear cut chances were created, however, the winning goal came on the hour when a corner was headed in at the back post by James Hubbard after 65 minutes.

Calne gave a start to their under 18 keeper Jack Haines, and one of his first tasks was to pick the ball out of the net after just six minutes following a free kick from Giovani De Santo.

Following an equaliser from the home side Ricky Flannagan gave the visitors an interval lead with De Santo netting a third on the hour.

Premier division leaders New College supplied several players for the County side and their game against Bradford Town was postponed.

Westbury United eased into joint second place in the table with a hard fought 2-1 away win at Shrewton.

In a goal less first half both sides had chances, the home outfit missing a gilt edged chance inside the first ten minutes.

After the interval both defences appeared to be on top until ten minutes from time when sub Paul Alford gave the visitors the lead that was almost immediately cancelled out with a strike from Craig Appleby. However, not to be out done back came Westbury to snatch all three points when Alford’s free kick was swept into the net by Mark Lanfear.

Westside had a welcome change of luck following a recent lean spell when they defeated Devizes Town on their own ground 5-0.

The Swindon side got off to a bad start when Jimmy Wright scuffed a penalty wide of the post after just 3 minutes but Gareth Morris came to the rescue with a brace before the interval.

The visitors remained on top in the second half adding further goals from Floyud Garrett 2 and Ben Vines.

Kc’s Club kept their recent good spell going with a 2-1 win at Corsham Arthur Levitt netting the winner with a volley from the edge of the box in the last five minutes.
