The sports addicts of Devizes will be able to bid for football memorabilia and support the endeavours of young athletes at a charity event in memory of keen soccer player Charlie Lamb.
The 18-year-old from West Grafton, near Pewsey, died in a car crash on September 26 last year and his mother, Jane, and her partner, Mike Fowler, set up Charlie’s Charity to raise money to support aspiring sports players.
Adam Bewley, the manager of the Devizes Town Football Club U12s squad, is organising the quiz and auction at The Bell by The Green in Estcourt Street, Devizes, on March 19, with landlord Paul McDonald as auctioneer.
The lots on offer include a Man United shirt signed by its star player Wayne Rooney, a football signed by the whole Tottenham Hotspur team, a boot signed by Arsenal winger Theo Walcott and a book signed by former Chelsea captain Ron Harris.
Local companies have also shown their generosity with Megans Motors donating a summer holiday airport taxi journey, Coral Cove soft play centre a signed England shirt and Hampshire Cricket Club four tickets plus parking at the Rose Bowl.
The quiz starts at 8pm with the auction following at about 10.30pm.
