A MUM is set to complete a sponsored 10,000ft skydive to mark the second anniversary of her son’s death.

Caroline Hannah from Old Walcot is jumping in memory of seven-year-old Tyrese who died after he was struck by a car on Drove Road.

The 36-year-old also hopes to raise hundreds of pounds for the road safety charity Brake with the tandem leap at Redlands Airfield in Wanborough on Sunday, March 14.

Last night Caroline, who has no other children, said Tyrese was a very bright and loving young man.

“He was a beautiful life that was taken away, but he will never be forgotten,” said Caroline.

“I’m sure Tyrese would think I’m mad jumping out of a plane. But if he was here he’d probably want to do it with me as it’s something fun.

“I’ve always wanted to do a parachute jump but when you’re a mother it’s not a very responsible and not the sort of thing you consider.

“I’m nervous about doing it but pleased all the money will go to a very good cause.

“Brake helps people and families like myself and they also work to promote road safety and possibly prevent lives being snatched away too soon.”

Lethbridge Primary School pupil Tyrese and his dog Odi were hit by a vehicle which had lost control as they walked with Caroline after school.

Tyrese, who enjoyed playing rugby, died five-and-a-half hours later at the Great Western Hospital.

Caroline has also paid tribute to Tyrese with a tattoo on her shoulder blades. Angel wings and a halo are etched into her skin, along with Tyrese’s name and his date of birth and death.

Caroline visits Tyrese’s grave in Whitworth Road cemetery every day.

Sean Austin, 21, of Mulberry Grove, Pinehurst, was sentenced to three years in jail for causing Tyrese’s death by dangerous driving during a hearing at Swindon Crown Court in August last year.
