Corsham school fair boosts ambulance appeal

Children at Heywood Preparatory School have raise more than £1,500 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance Appeal at their Christmas fair and concert.

The school near Corsham, which raises money for a different charity each Christmas, chose to raise funds for the helicopter through concert ticket sales and two raffles, one organised by the pupils and staff and the other by friends of Heywood School.

Principal Michael Hall said: “We choose a different charity each summer and Christmas and we decided upon the air ambulance this Christmas.

“We managed to raise £1,588 through our raffle and Christmas fair and friends of the school donated £500, which is really good in such a small space of time.”

The money was collected by paramedic Bruce Jarvis during a cheque presentation at the school on December 4.
