Devizes card shop reborn

The former Birthdays card shop in Devizes reopened on Friday – as another card shop.
It has been bought by Card Bar five months after Birthdays went into administration.
The shop in The Brittox employs five staff. None of them worked for Birthdays.
Manager Sarah Bradford-Scoble used to run the Lysley Arms pub at Pewsham, Chippenham.
Card Bar has been established 16 years and Devizes is its 14th shop. It is the ninth the company, based in Wadebridge, Cornwall, has opened this year.
The shop also has a Thorntons chocolate franchise, as Birthdays did. Card Bar sells Thorntons chocolates in all but two of its shops.
Chris Fisher, joint general manager at Card Bar, said: “Thorntons is a quality product and it complements what we do and brings people in.
“We have opened a shop in Devizes because it is a perfect town for us. It is a middle class market town and has a nice feel to it.”
