AFTER months of waiting, the cafe in Malmesbury Town Hall has been revamped and opened for business on Monday.
The opening of the Jackdaw coffee house means the ground floor of the town hall is now fully operational after a year long transformation.
Former florist Jane Karr, along with husband George, has taken over the lease on the area in the building, which has been empty since the first phase of the project was completed.
Mrs Karr is looking forward to a future in Malmesbury and thanked councillors for their support She said: “All of the town councillors have been brilliant. They are really helpful.
“Obviously it is in their interests to make it work because we are paying them rent.”
Mrs Karr used to have a florist shop in Chipping Campden and has also worked with her husband in the ice cream trade.
She said: “It is something we have wanted to do for years and I got bored with flowers. We were looking all over the country and searching on the Internet. We wanted a small town that had tourists coming to it and this fitted the bill.
“The premises were perfect.”
Mayor Catherine Doody added: “There is a buzz in Malmesbury at the moment and this is going to add to it.”
