Three Vietnamese men found guilty of cultivating cannabis in a house in Devizes have been jailed.
The three Vietnamese men Dat Sinh Mon, 50, Tong Quy Van, 48 , and Hung Van Chu, 35, pleaded guilty to being concerned in the production of cannabis and were sentenced to two and half years, six years and two years imprisonment respectively.
Inspector Andy Noble, Sector Commander for Devizes said : ‘Officers attended a house in Broadleas, Devizes back in March and found that it was being used to cultivate Cannabis, a class B drug.
"There were over 100 plants in rooms throughout the rented property and hydroponic equipment had been set up. The plants are estimated to have a street value of over £5,000.
"The sentencing today shows the commitment of the Criminal Justice System to discourage those who produce illegal drugs.
"It sends a clear message that Wiltshire Police will not tolerate this type of behaviour which has negative consequences on the lives of not only the drug users but also their families, friends and the wider community. We will continue to work with our partners to make Wiltshire an even safer county.’ Philomena Creffield, Crown Advocate for Crown Prosecution Service Wiltshire said: "This case has shown that those who produce drugs in Wiltshire will be prosecuted firmly. The property was in the early stages of being converted into a cannabis factory. Had the plants and machinery not been noticed at the address, the drug could've been sold in a short space of time, and it is likely more plants would've been cultivated there."
