Teenager arrested after drug raid in Calne

A teenager was arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs when armed police stormed a family home in Calne during an early morning raid today.

More than 10 officers, including an armed response team and dog handlers, smashed their way into a home in Stokes Croft at just after 8am.

In the 18-year-old’s bedroom, where the youngster was sleeping when officers burst in, a substance thought to be herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of £150 and a large amount of money were found.

The teenager was arrested and taken to the Melksham Custody Unit for questioning, where he is currently still being interviewed by officers.

PC Hans Monahan said: “Police officers carried out a warrant at a home in Calne, where a male was suspected of promoting the supply and distribution of drugs.

“The raid was successful as we arrested an 18-year-old for possession with intent to supply.

“We went to the family home and located the teenager upstairs with a quantity of drugs in his bedroom.

“It was a significant quantity of cannabis, and there was also a significant amount of money there.

“Police have been gathering intelligence from the community over a period of time with regards this raid and we are pleased with the successful result.”

The drugs were seized and will undergo forensic testing over the next few weeks.
