The Post Office Ltd has launched a six week consultation for a proposed hosted outreach service in Lacock.

Under the proposal post offices services would only be available between 9am and 1pm on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and from 9am until 12pm on Wednesday.

The proposal follows the decision to close Lacock Post Office branch.

The Gazette ran a campaign to save Lacock and dozens of other post offices across the county. The fight to save Lacock was backed by actress Dame Judi Dench, who was a regular customer when the BBC series Cranford was filmed there.

The consultation begins today and ends on March 2.

A Post Office spoksman said: "The standard range of products and services will continue to be available through the proposed hosted service. Customers can still collect benefits in cash using our banking services or Post Office card account."

Network development manager Tim Nickolls said: “We welcome feedback from the local community during the six week consultation and look forward to receiving comments on the days and hours being suggested.”

Comments can be made during the consultation by writing to the National Consultation Team, Post Office Ltd, FREEPOST CONSULTATION TEAM or via e-mail by clicking here
