More than 40 angry people turned up to planning meeting last night to oppose two gypsy sites planned for Wiltshire.
Residents crowded into the development control meeting at North Wiltshire District Council offices to have their say on the proposals for sites near Sutton Benger and Braydon, Swindon.
Plans to change the use of land adjacent to Framptons Farm, Sutton Benger were heard first and involved spaces for one touring caravan and one mobile home, a day room building and a hardstanding area for one gypsy pitch.
Despite various complaints from villagers, councillors agreed that the site should be given three years temporary permission while another more suitable site is found.
Plans for a site at Purdys Farm, Braydon, were almost passed despite residents concerns but were eventually deferred after Paul Derby from the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust raised concerns over the safety of endangered great crested newts, which live on the site.
