A 29-year-old man will appear before magistrates this morning charged with the manslaughter of a Swindon man at the weekend.
The ambulance service received a call to an address in the town at 4.45pm on Saturday.
When a crew arrived at the pensioner's housing complex in George Selman Gardens, Twyford Close, Park North, they found the body of a 38-year-old man.
A post mortem has been carried out into the death, but police are still waiting for the results and the dead man has yet to be formally identified.
Michele Wilton, who lives nearby, said that she was surprised at the age of the dead man.
She said: “It is quite strange for a man of that age to be in the building.
“I am pretty sure you have to be above a certain age to live there. It is pensioners’ accommodation and everything is controlled by security guards and CCTV.
Usually people have to need a warden checking up on you to get a place.”
