Brawlers stab peacemaker

A HAVE-A-GO heroine was stabbed when she tried to stop a fight outside a restaurant in Orpington near the pub where she works.

Barmaid Anne Kelly was jabbed with a knife or bottle and left lying on the floor semi-conscious in a pool of blood outside the White Hart pub in Orpington High Street, on March 16.

The attack was seen by a man, who declined to be named, who had just left the nearby Ran Baba pub after a night out with friends.

The witness described how Miss Kelly ran out of the pub to try and stop a gang from fighting when she was attacked.

He said: “I couldn't believe it when I saw her lying on the ground in a pool of blood.

“She had obviously been stabbed with a knife or a bottle and was mumbling incoherently after it had happened. When she fell down we carried her to the White Hart pub where she works and then we rang the police.”

“It is shocking such a brave young woman could be treated in this way.”

Miss Kelly was taken to Queen Mary's Hospital, in Sidcup, where doctors operated on her.

A friend of Miss Kelly and manager of Ran Baba pub, who also declined to be named, said the young woman had been back into hospital since the attack and had seven pieces of glass removed from her body.
