Three teens have been attacked by a gang of seven men in the centre of Devizes.

The assault happened between 11.30pm and midnight on Saturday as the victims, two aged 17 and one 15-year-old, were walking along Maryport Street.

They became involved in an argument with a larger group of men and the older gang turned violent.

The 15-year-old suffered head injuries in the attack, which needed treatment.

It is thought that one of the attackers may have been chased into the Brittox.

Investigating the incident, Detective Constable Ian Magrath said: "This was a nasty assault which left one teenager in need of hospital treatment.

"It occurred on a Saturday night when other people will have been out socialising in Devizes.

"It may be that someone saw the assault or the people involved before or after the incident.

"I would ask anyone who can help to contact me as soon as they can."

Anyone with information should call police on 0845 408 7000.
