SCHOOLGIRL Naomi Aitchison is one step closer to her dream of becoming a top model.

Naomi, 17, of Rowden Hill, Chippenham, is thrilled to have got through to the finals of the Miss Wiltshire 2008 competition.

The Corsham School pupil, who is studying for A-levels, wants to show not all models are empty headed. She is currently studying chemistry, maths and psychology.

Despite her studies she has battled her way to the final 20 in the Miss Wiltshire contest and now has to face the voting by the public.

She said: "I have always dreamt about trying modelling but still being at school is a problem.

"I really want to prove that models can have brains as well as beauty and with all my A-levels I am hoping that is something I can do.

"People always tell me I have the look of a model and I just hope the public put me through to the grand final.

"I want to be a nurse and have already applied to universities, so modelling is just an extra bit of fun.

"As well as modelling I love to play any sport, especially netball and ten-pin bowling.

"Because my dad was in the Army we moved around a lot. I never got a chance to get into professional modelling at all.

"To win the competition would really build up my confidence and might give me an opportunity to see just how far I can go in the industry."

If Naomi wins the title of Miss Wiltshire 2008 she is then automatically entered into the Miss England 2008 heats.

From there she could be in the running to go even further and eventually contest the prestigious Miss World competition.
