KEEN knitters from Corsham have already had a kick start for 2008 with a donation from Age Concern.
The Corsham Knitting and Crochet group spent 2007 creating thousands of winter woollies for those less fortunate in Eastern Europe and now they have funds to carry on their good work in the New Year.
The cheque for £150 will go towards new materials for their Headwarmers for All' project, which will get underway at their first meeting in early January.
Last year the team of ladies knitted 288 headwarmers last year and think that beating that number will be no problem.
The handmade headgear will be donated to charities for the homeless to help keep them warm during the last few months of winter.
Member Gwen Davies, said: "News of this funding coincided with an appeal in Simply Knitting for hats and scarves for the sellers of The Big Issue and the organisers in Bath and Bristol said they would be grateful for our help.
"It is nice to think of all of those who have supported us through the year with transport, publicity, it skills and for those who made grants available.
"Hopefully 2008 will bring even more and new members are always welcome in the New Year."
