Partnership means improved service

Wiltshire County Council and Wiltshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) have held their second meeting as part of their drive for an improved partnership.

The meetings are aimed at improved links between the two organisations to enable them to jointly take steps to better coordinate health and social care services for people in Wiltshire.

The first meeting was held in September.

At the December meeting (on December 10), the PCT and the county council agreed to a number of measures, including: A review of the success of council's free and newly launched reablement care service and the PCT's neighbourhood teams.

To continue jointly funding a number of services for 2008/09.

. The county council meet with the newly appointed Children's Commissioner to look at how the two organisations can work together.

Both organisations have now agreed to keep voluntary sector funding stable in 2008/09.

Jane Scott, leader of the county council, said: "This contact between the county council and the PCT is helping to ensure health and social care services for local people are better co-ordinated. This second meeting shows the benefits of building relationships between ourselves and the PCT at all levels."

Tony Barron, chairman of Wiltshire PCT, said: "These opportunities for face-to-face top level dialogue build on the already close relationships between managers and officers within the two organisations."
