A man armed with a knife stabbed a petrol station worker in Devizes during a robbery this morning.
The attack happened in the TCS petrol station at The Nursery, Northgate Street, when it is alleged a man who was attempting to steal goods was confronted by an employee.
The would-be-thief forced the middle-aged man into the office of the petrol station and the worker received a stab wound to the hand.
It is understood police were alerted by other customers and were quickly on the scene and arrested a man.
Another worker at the petrol station said: "This was a very serous incident. "It is quite frightening to think this can happen." The stabbing comes just three days after 34-yer-old Devizes man Matthew Baggott was stabbed to death in the town centre. The petrol station worker said: "You don't expect this sort of thing to happen in Devizes. This happening so soon after the other stabbing is very worrying. It makes everyone worried.
