SEVEN fire cadets from the Trowbridge area are travelling to London this weekend to take part in the inaugural National Fire Cadets Games.

The competition, hosted jointly by London Fire Brigade and Essex Fire and Rescue Service, is being held at the Crystal Palace National Sports Centre on Saturday and Sunday.

Fire Cadets representing nearly all areas of the UK will take part in a series of events and challenges, competing against each other in teams. They will put the skills they have learnt at their units to the test, rolling out hoses, tackling obstacle courses and climbing ladders against the clock in a bid to be crowned the National Fire Cadets Champions 2018.

Rob Guy, youth intervention manager for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, said: “We’re delighted to be represented at the inaugural National Fire Cadet Games by one of our two inaugural Fire Cadet units from Wiltshire. This will be a fantastic experience for the young people involved, and I am sure they will enjoy every minute.”
