COLLEAGUES from a fashion, chain which has its head office in Calne, are to be putting their carefully shod feet forward to raise money for Julia's House children's hospice in Devizes and Cancer Research.

Head of sales and marketing at Mistral Lucy Clayphan and warehouse manager Iain Richards came up with the idea for the 10K walk and they are hoping they will be joined by more than 25 staff from head office and stores which include Devizes, Marlborough and Malmesbury.

Ms Clayphan visited the hospice in Devizes, which opened last year, to find out more about its work. She said: "We chose to fund raise for both of these amazing charities as they're close to our hearts.

"We've all been touched by cancer one way and another and Cancer Research seemed the perfect fit for us as a national charity. We also wanted to combine this with a local charity and with three of our 19 stores plus our head office in Wiltshire, Julia's House was a unanimous choice.

"Our owner John Lewis, visited the hospice recently with his wife Lidiya and was blown away by not only the fun environment for children but the care & facilities available to create wonderful memories.

"As well as the incredible support it provides for families in need of respite. We all decided to get involved in any way we could."

The walk on September 8 will do a loop along The Ridgeway and will start and finish in Avebury.
