TICKETS for Chippenham's second annual open air cinema go on sale tonight at 7pm.

Following the success of last year, Watch it Weekdays is returning to Island Park between August 21 and August 24 with a variety of films suitable for children and adults alike.

Children's films will be shown at 2pm each day, and as voted by the public, there will be screenings of The Lion King, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Trolls, and The Secret Life of Pets.

Evening films will be shown at 8.30pm and chosen this year were Top Gun, Wonder Woman, Sister Act and The Greatest Showman.

Kathryn Crosweller, of Chippenham Connected, said: "Not only are there more films than last year, but we also have more capacity for each film.

"Last year was so popular we had to grow the event to allow everyone a good chance to get a ticket if they want one."

Each film is sponsored by a local business, and each cinema session will have competitions to take part in and there will be stalls for the viewers to enjoy. Emery Gate Shopping Centre is sponsoring the children’s films each afternoon and the evening films are being sponsored by Batt Broadbent LLP, Digiprint, Hughes and Hughes Estate Agents and John Williams Heating Services Ltd. Some sponsors will be giving away free tickets to their screening, others will be running competitions to win other prizes.

Leader of Chippenham Town Council Sandie Webb said, “The outdoor cinema is a fantastic event that emphasises the uniqueness of our town centre, which has the added advantage of the river Avon running through it in the lovely setting of Island Park. We are happy to continue working in partnership with Chippenham Connected in the knowledge that adults and children alike will enjoy the experience.”

Tickets cost £1.50 for children, £3 for adults and £8 for a family ticket.
