A TEAM of hair stylists from Corsham are hoping September 9 will not be a bad hair day, although it might turn out to be a hair-raising experience.

Two members of the Strawberry Fields Hair Design salon based in High Street Corsham, are planning a wing walk for charity at 2,000 feet.

They are salon owner Chris Alford, 57, and senior hair stylist Kirsty Liddiard, 26, and Alison Haynes, of Toby Haynes family butchers, who has also been roped in to take part.

They will take to the skies with clients Sue Crook, Ann Richards and Sarah Crittle, and maybe a few others if they can be persuaded to join in the fun.

Kirsty said: “We want to raise over £5,000 for the Dorothy House Hospice in memory of my nan, Audrey Dodge, who died aged 79 in March.

“Back in April we ran a poll on our Facebook page for all our 300 followers and clients to vote on two things that they would like to see us to do.

“We gave them a choice of a sky dive or wing walk challenge to raise as much money and awareness for the charity.

“Our followers voted for us to do a wing walk challenge. So the date is set for Sunday, September 9 at the Compton Abbas Airfield near Salisbury.

Chris said: “We are already in training for the event. I’m going to have to get fitter and Kirsty wants to lose a bit of weight.

“I’m not looking forward to it, but we will make something of it on the day and then go for a drink afterwards.”

The whole event will be filmed on the day so that their 300-plus followers and clients can see how they got on.

To support the team, contact them at the salon, which opens from Tuesday to Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Monday.

Alternatively, call the salon on 01249 715211 (if no answer, please leave a message).
