RETURN electoral information online instead of by post to save public money, is the message coming from Wiltshire Council as 220,000 household inquiry forms drop onto residents doormats.

Wiltshire Electoral Services has launched its annual bid to make sure everyone eligible to vote is registered by sending out registration forms.

This year, the team has urged people to go online to fill out information instead of using the pre paid envelope provided with the form, which increases costs for the service.

Dr Carlton Brand, Electoral Registration Officer, said: “This year we want to encourage as many people as possible to confirm their details electronically rather than returning the envelope. By law we need to put a pre-paid envelope in there but that costs us even more money when they are used. We’d much rather spend the money on other vital services so if people are able to confirm their details electronically, it would be a big help.”

To confirm details, all people have to do is visit www.householdresponse.com/wiltshire or telephone (Freephone) 0800 197 9871 or text NOCHANGE to 80212 and use the security codes printed at the top of their form. This is the quickest and easier way to confirm the information on the form is correct. People can also return the signed form by post.

If any details are incorrect, go online at www.householdresponse.com/wiltshire.
