ARTWORK has been lifted from school sketch books and onto the walls of a London art gallery, showcasing the talent of a Pewsey teenager.

Despite sitting his GCSEs just a few months ago, Pewsey Vale school pupil Daniel, 16, has already seen his work presented to the public at The Mall gallery in London.

His eye-catching design depicts the anxiety behind studying for GCSEs and can be seen alongside other young exhibitors for the Royal

Society of British Artists show.

Nina Slater, of the school’s art department, said: “Daniel’s work is a perfect calibre to catch the judge’s eye, skilful, different and clever. Daniel is a very talented student.”

Daniel hopes to pursue a career in architecture and said: “My artwork was an idea that inspired by the GCSE theme ‘Fragments’ and references the anxiety and stress behind GCSEs. Although I had seen examples of faces being cut into geometric shapes, I started with my hand shape and developed this to pulling my face apart. I used pencil as it is my media and liked the contrast of grey and blue.”
