THREE friends are getting on their bikes to raise money for charities close to their hearts.

Adam Branson, 37, Mikey Harford, 40, and Jacob Wrobel, 27, who all live in Devizes and have known each other for many years will be cycling from John O'Groats to Lands End in August and hope to complete the distance of around 1,000 miles in seven days.

Carpenter Mr Branson, who has two daughters, will be raising money for Devizes Opportunity Centre while barber Mr Harford, who has four children, will ride for Click Sargent and electrician Mr Wrobel, whose partner is expecting a son in October, is supporting the still birth and neonatal charity SANDS.

Mr Branson said: "My mum Bev Brimble has worked at the centre for 29 years and is a very valued member of the team. I have grown up along side the centre going to many charity fund raising events. All of our charities are close to our hearts for personal reasons. We have all been good friends for many years.

We are all amateur cyclists, been using roads bikes for about 9 months.

Out on the bikes training as much as we can, sometimes up over 300 miles a week, after work and weekends, some might say it’s taking over. We will be cycling the length of Great Britain, from John o groats to Lands End, in seven days, covering about 1000 miles,

"We will cycle between 100 and 150 miles a day and be in the saddle for about 10 hours a day."

His father Mark Branson will be driving his camper van as a support vehicle.
