A PRIMARY school’s new peace garden, which was designed by pupils, was blessed by the school minister on Friday.

Pupils at Sutton Benger C of E Primary School watched on as their peace garden, a space for them to reflect, was blessed by Reverend Evelyn Bone, who is retiring this summer.

Worship Leader at the school, Kate Baldwin, said: “This quiet area was opened around six years ago and the children felt it needed a revamp and brought back to life so it could be enjoyed again.

“We now have a nature area, a music corner, and a reflection corner.

“The children have worked hard to redesign and redevelop the area so that it is more reflective of our current children’s ideas and we are looking forward to using it.

“Rev Evelyn Bone blessed it ready for the children to enjoy.

“Reflection is important for our wellbeing, body, mind and spirit.”

Rev Bone, added: “The children took ownership of it and they would use it more if they had done it themselves.

“I think for children to have that space, to take time out of our busy world is very important.”
