CHIPPENHAM Cricket Club got colourful for charity as they held their very first pink day to raise money for Against Breast Cancer, Prostate Cancer UK and Dorothy House on Saturday.

More than £2,000 was raised as cricketers, family and friends all got involved.

Lee Ward, first team captain, said: “We have chosen these charities as all have a personal connection to players, families and friends within the club.

“It is the first time we have run such an event as a club, and the first time we have themed our senior cricket matches in this way.

“The club was pink-themed throughout the day including the cricket matches with pink stumps, pads and caps.”

“It went really well and we managed to raise over £2,000, which was fantastic.

“It was such a positive day and we are going to make it an annual event.

“We had three matches, a barbecue and lots of activities, including a tombola and bouncy castle.

“We don’t see many families at the club so we are keen to build on that.”
