A package was seen being thrown over the fence into the prison grounds by a man dressed in all black clothing at around 10am.

It is thought that the man involved approached the fence from the B3098.

DC Cerys Powell said: “We believe there was a vehicle parked in the layby near to the church in Erlestoke village at the time of the incident – the driver may have witnessed the incident or seen the man involved so we are keen to speak to this person.

"As well as this, we are keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving through the area who may have a dash cam fitted to their vehicle.

“The parcel, which contained prohibited items including syringes, drugs and sim cards, has since been seized.”
